How to apply, step by step

1. 1

   Watch for the annual advertisement

   PEEF advertises in newspapers and on its portal once a year, usually after intermediate results.

   Confirm the category you fall under

   Separate schemes exist for different regions, institutions and circumstances, each with its own criteria.

3. 3

   Prepare domicile and income documents

   These take time to obtain from local offices and are the most common cause of delay.

   Apply on the portal

   Complete the online form and upload clear scans of every supporting document.

   Submit hard copies where required

   Some categories require documents to be delivered to the institution as well.

When to do what

Counting backwards from the deadline. Applications rushed in the final fortnight are the ones that fail.

1. 12 weeks before

   Begin arranging the domicile certificate.

2. 10 weeks before

   Obtain the income certificate or affidavit.

3. 8 weeks before

   Confirm your admission or enrolment status.

4. 6 weeks before

   Gather marks certificates and identity documents.

5. 3 weeks before

   Complete the online application.

6. 1 week before

   Deliver hard copies if your category requires them.

What the panel is actually looking for

Common mistakes to avoid

• Starting domicile and income paperwork after the advertisement appears.
• Applying under the wrong category and being filtered out.
