How to apply, step by step
- 1
Apply through the Taiwan representative office
The scholarship is administered through Taiwan's mission in your country, not centrally.
- 2
Apply to universities separately
You must secure admission independently; the scholarship does not admit you.
- 3
Decide on language of instruction
English-taught programmes exist but are fewer; Mandarin opens far more options.
- 4
Write the study plan
Specific about your field and why Taiwan, not a general statement.
- 5
Submit before the March deadline
Representative offices set their own cut-offs within the national window.

What the panel is actually looking for
- Academic record
- Study plan quality and field relevance
- Language readiness
- Country quota at the representative office
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the scholarship also handles university admission.
- Applying centrally instead of through the local representative office.
- Overlooking that most programmes are taught in Mandarin.
- Missing the office's local deadline, which precedes the national one.

Apply to more than one
Even outstanding applicants are rejected for reasons outside their control, quotas, country allocations, a stronger field that year. Shortlist three or four awards you genuinely qualify for and apply to all of them.
